OH DEAR GOD THAT HURT.
Good idea.
Getting back in the groove of training.
Bad idea.
Getting back in the water for the first time since a single visit to the pool in January and not seeing any sizable swim distance since November 22, 2009.
And of course, it was a dip with the training group...which can only mean one thing.
A test.
I was served up a big, fat 5x200 meter main set with the instruction to go full throttle. At this point I'm questioning if I even remember how the hell to swim...let alone be able to successfully string together a series of 200's.
I took the first set at what felt like a conservative pace. Little did i know it'd be my fastest set of the night. Of course.
By the time I finished up the second two-hundred...my arms were screaming.
By the time I was done with the third set...it took an effort to avoid vomiting.
By the time the fourth set was behind me...I wanted to rip my arms from my body and beat myself senseless to put me out of my own misery.
And then by the time that last hellacious set was finito...I wanted to cry.
After my cool down I pulled myself out of the pool and all four of my limbs were pretty much jello.
I'm still feeling the aftermath. Hours later. And no doubt I will be feeling this the next few days.
Someone put me out of my misery.
Please.

Ugh, that's the thing about getting back into swimming shape. It's impossible, IMO, to sprint when you get back in. Everything just feels like it's slipping all over the place (referring to your catch in the water). It's annoying, and yes quite painful! Good luck! May the soreness wear off soon!
LOL........ I love it! That will teach you. I feel your pain, when I'm trying to get back in running shape and doing hill repeats and questioning everything.....
Nice job, girl!
Way to go!
