It has begun.
And from the looks of my build phase 1...I've got my work cut out for me.
This week includes:
- 3 bike workouts (well...technically 4)...including a long ride on the trainer and a myriad of strength/technique drills
- a run test (where I have to spin 30 minutes beforehand)...and a Zone 1-2 "long" run
- a swim test (that's tonight, where there is a distinct possibility of drowning as I haven't cranked 800 straight through since Racine) ...and a second swim workout longer than the half iron distance
- ...and the prescribed workout I find most amusing? Weights. I've always talked about incorporating weight work into my regime...and it looks like it's time to put up or shut up.
I keep thinking to myself...if this is week 1, what on earth will I be doing in October?! But really, it doesn't matter. Because I'm going to do it regardless...cause well...that's how I get to the finish line. Afterall...Ironman is not one day. It's the culmination of countless training days capped off with a victory lap called "race day."

whooohooo!
Woohoo! It has begun! I'm so excited for you! Sounds a lot like what I started with not that long ago. I too have been wondering what on earth our volume will look like in September/October, but really it's irrelevant for now - by the time we get there, it will just be a little bit more than it was the week before. And it is all what it takes to get us to that finish line as happily as possible.
I guess this is where we separate the pretenders from the contenders! Boy, I am sooo looking forward to reading your blog now..... Ha
The plan that I picked for my first 70.3 has strength training and I am trying to decide if I should ignore it. LOL
Yay! Let the good times roll! :)
Hey, just take it one workout at a time and have fun with it, otherwise you'll freak yourself out. :)
Let the games begin!!!
Best of luck.
You go girl! I will be watching and cheering for you all the way to the finish line!!!
You are so on your way!!
