So what's the plan, Stan!?

Sunday's meeting with Coach went well. We've reactivated my workout log and have started developing a plan to get me in the best shape of my life between April 1st and Nov. 22.

I've got one word for it all...

...intimidating.

When you're a weak cyclist and hear the phrase "I'm thinking one century a month" you tend to get a wee bit nervous. But, I know it's necessary to take me from a weak cyclist to a half-way decent one who can ride 112 miles before running 26.2. The high bike volume will be key to building the confidence I need to make it into T2 before they close the course.

So until April 1st, it's just some lighthearted swimming, biking and running around these parts. Masters swimming won't begin until May, so I've got a few more weeks to improve my form and speed before making a fool of myself with the big sharks.

Monday night's 2000yd swim was extraordinarily sluggish. I haven't felt that slow in the water in a long time. Hopefully this weekend will be a little bit more productive. Everyone can tell the positive change in the weather (except for today's chilly temps) and the extra hour of sunlight puts a little more spring in my step. I may even make it outside for another run this weekend.

We've got the Shamrock Shuffle is on the horizon and I'm going into the race this year quite undertrained. Running an 8k won't be a problem, but I won't be breaking any sound barriers or personal records this year. And I'm okay with that. I'm just going out there to have fun and enjoy my health and fitness.

I will definitely be enjoying my last few weeks of "freedom" before I'm a slave to my training schedule. So pardon me while I relax and put my feet up. I'll have plenty of time for serious training in the months ahead...

Hahaha...thanks for the vote of encouragement, Ken. Luckily I have a few months to get myself to the "century a month" point.

I'm sure by September I'll be begging you to share these sharp sticks!

Im going into the shuffle under-trained too, unfortunately I'm not in the same boat as you are and not too confident that I can manage an 8K ;)
