Doing work before the real work kicks in...
Things 'round these parts are still a bit hectic at work (okay, that's an extreme understatement, but I'm determined not to dote on it all too much because it just gets me worked up and the last thing I need is another migraine). So amid all of the jobby job type work, I've been trying to get some tri-work in before the real work begins. You know, the run here and there and swim when you can type of work (cycling is laughable right now...). But I'm excited that things are starting to get moving before official training kicks in...
I had a ridiculously awesome swim earlier this week. The best 1800 I've had in a long time. I cranked out a main set of 10x100 which included my fastest 100 in the pool in a ridiculously long time (1:42)...4 of the 10 were all under 1:50 and felt really comfortable. With the help of regular masters classes I'm interested to see how much I can improve between now and November. Although I'm making myself build up my endurance before throwing myself to the sharks in the big kid pool. I just don't think I'm there yet.
Also on the docket...I've got a meeting with Coach Mo this weekend to talk about ye olde trusty Iron Plan. I think I've been pretty even-keeled with the whole Ironman deal for the past few months...but now that the wheel is about to start turning and we're going to be laying everything out, it gives me butterflies. Part excitement. Part fear. Part oh my God what the hell am i getting myself into?!?
Good times, really.
I anticipate the pre-race neurotica to set in any day now and last all 9 months.
Poor Mike.
I imagine things'll kick off on April Fools Day...so until then, I'm just doing the work before the actual work begins. I feel so lost without a training plan and schedule laid out. It'll be nice to get back into a solid routine and have intelligent structure behind each of my workouts.
Oh yeah...one last thing...

I was accepted into the Brooks Inspire Daily program. It's part sponsorship...part brand ambassador...and pure awesomeness. There seems to be a really solid group of athletes in the program and I'm still sort of scratching my head at why they thought I was worthy of joining their ranks. Don't get me wrong, it's an honor and I'm really excited especially since I'm a devout Brooks fan, it just definitely took me by surprise. :) ...hopefully it wasn't a mistake!!

How cool is that??? I'd love to hear more about the program, your post is the first I've ever heard!
Congrats!
The Brooks ID Program is awesome, I just started with them as well, and I can't say enough about them. Good luck with your training for Arizona. Try to hold back now because it feels that much better to start the training, and as I'm sure you know you'll have plenty of it!! Good luck again!
