Run with me!
What a fantastic day today was!
The sun was plentiful. Puddles were unavoidable. And people were flooding the lakefront trying to take advantage of this rare 50-degree day.
I laced up my shoes early this afternoon for a run. I figured I'd run until I felt the need to turn around. Ignore my pace. Only keep time (and not pay attention to it). Listen to my music. And just put one foot in front of the other without a care in the world. It was one of those days. A runners high type of day. I decided to bring the camera with me to share a little bit of my run with some of you fine folks...

The crazy Polar Bear Club folks. Although this year was substantially better than '08 when the lake was frozen over.
In the end I ran 5.75 miles, bumped into and chatted with an old TNTer from the Arizona team back in '05-'06, experienced the kindness of a young tourist when my hair tie broke one mile into my run (she gave me hers), laughed at the newest initiates of the Lakeview Polar Bear Club, marveled at the beauty of our wonderful city, and smiled for nearly the entire time. Most of the runners out there had a happy look of disbelief upon their face. Earlier this week it was negative wind chills...and today warranted a run in shorts and a t-shirt. Funny how mother nature works.
I'm a little bit over 10 miles on the week. Good stuff.
Earlier this week I bit the bullet and dropped the dough for Enduracamps in St. Louis. Some of you may remember Mike and I participating in Endurcamps KC last year and having our asses handed to us on a silver platter by Midwest pro Ben Schloegel. I figured since I'm going for the full 140.6, I could use another intense five days of training to help me prepare. I'm looking forward to it and it'll be good to see my brother and his family as well. Any headed to Madison, Louisville and Arizona should give it consideration.
The schedule for the year is really starting to shape up. We've got WIBA on our radar and then we have a family vacation round the fourth of July in Northern Michigan. Little does my family know that I'm hoping to turn this into a week of solid training, capped off with the Trek Women's Tri. Aaaaaaand, I'm pretty amped as I was able to locate the Tour de Leelanau bike map so I can get a 60-miler or two in during the week. Hopefully Lake Michigan around those parts will be semi-tolerable so we can grab some open water swims.
Tomorrow I am determined to defy the angered bike gods. I have clearance to tap into our last 2 CO2 cartridges to fill up my flats and get Cooper back up and rollin' again.
And with that...I'm off to live the rest of my day. Happy Saturday, everyone!

Nice run!
Way to get out and run! I'm thinking about doing IM WI in 2010 so I am looking forward to hearing about the training I'll be meeting next year!
Nice run. The pictures almost make me miss Chicago! Good luck with the bike.
great pix! You'd be very bored with my scenery down here. I came by to see if you're MIA from all logging. Hope you're doing well up there
Sounds like a most awesome run! Wish I could do like you where I didn't care at all for my pace! The pics are absolutely gorgeous!
Lovely Chicago shoreline.
Wondering how you are doing with the on-going Chicago winter.
Best wishes for March.
