Oh...so THAT'S what I sound like? ...iiiiiiiiiinteresting.
You know that reaction when you watch yourself talking on a video or hear your own voicemail you stop and think to yourself...Oh. THAT'S what I sound like!? ...Huh?! ...and you kind of cringe?
I had one of those moments today. And it wasn't so much an issue of sound...but an issue of rambling (geez louise, do I ramble!).
Take a look (well...rather a listen) over here to see what I mean...
Note: You'll need iTunes if you don't already have it.
Note to my mother: Start listening around 17:30 and then again at 35:25...everybody else, listen to the whole thing, cause it's good stuff to know about!!
This is the Stay Tuned Report Podcast hosted by the one and only TriBoomer. The Stay Tuned Report is essentially a one stop shop for the latest and greatest tri and multisport news...the best part is the subscription is free on iTunes (read as: so go sign up for it already). What you'll hear on the latest podcast (#22) is me...one of two IronRookies being featured in 2009. This year, the Stay Tuned Report is going to keep tabs on me, the ins and outs and highs and lows of my training, and of course, my racing season...which will conclude at Ford Ironman Arizona.
In addition to the latest tri news, this specific podcast includes an intro interview for me and Tom (he's the other IronRookie...he's doing Lake Placid...and he just sounds super lightning fast...whereas I, the eternal slow poke, sound like I'm right where I belong in the back). :)
I'm pretty amped about this opportunity as it'll keep me more focused, honest and accountable with my training (not that I'm unfocused, dishonest or unaccountable or anything...'cause I'm not).
With any luck, hopefully someone out there will find themselves a wee little bit inspired to maybe take up the sport, or realize that even if you're slow you can, in fact, work toward something bigger than you ever imagined. You'll experience everything through my eyes--your average, everyday, back of the pack triathlete. It's strange to think that it was only 2 short years ago I first got into triathlon and it pretty much turned my life upside (in a good way). I went from huffing and puffing my way through my first sprint to surprising myself in a half ironman to actually registering myself for IMAZ.
I'm just thankful to have such an amazing and supportive husband who was my secret guinea pig at Louisville (just kidding!), one badass coach who instills the confidence I need to go the distance and pushes me to levels I never imagined were possible, and all of you guys to give advice, help push me along and motivate me in this journey. I couldn't do it without this trifecta of awesomeness.
I really am one lucky chick.

congratulations! looking forward to hearing about your progress thorough this awesome adventure.
uh, one thing. about me sounding lightnign fast. not so much. I plan to finish under 14 hours, under ideal circumstances and with God's help :)
I have always hated the way I sound, my voice is scratchy and harsh. I had a hard time speaking in public for most of my life ... and got over it a bit in college when I got a who-gives-a-crap attitute. Then when I was getting my MBA I took a communications course and they VIDEO TAPED us giving speeches. Now I'm back to hating the way I sound ... and look ... and that was like 5 years ago and I'm still not over it ;)
This is going to be soooo cool!
Stay tuned...
Awesome! I can't wait to follow along with your training too!
That is sooooo cool! I will give it a listen. I agree, this will make you want to work even harder. How exciting.
PS I ramble too, and talk with my hands....according to my husband.
This is GREAT!
WOW!!! Congrats. You are my hero!!
Hey stranger... I am definitely inspired by your confidence and commitment to go after such a challenging, daunting and exciting goal. Totally awesome. Maybe I can ride your wave of courage and "tri" a sprint triathlon at some point in the future. For now, I'll be a wuss and run my 26.2's - and be happy. :)
Just got a chance to listen to the podcast. Looking forward to hear, and read, more about your training journey!
Very cool!
