Soooo...what do ya wanna hear about first?

I have a lot of stories from today...and a lot of lessons learned, but those I'll share after I've put some serious thought to the overall race, which, for the most part, I'll call disappointing. With the exception of drowning, crashing, and getting a flat tire, everything that could've possibly gone wrong...did.

In the meantime, here's a little teaser of the stories to come...any requests on what you want to read about first?

- How I drank half of Apple Canyon Lake.
- Pretending to know how to fix your bike when having mechanical problems.
- Eating Bugs.
- Train like you race and race like you train...especially when it comes to nutrition (which, for the record, did not include insects of any type)...
which leads us to our next story...
- GI issues on the run (pun intended? or not? you decide.)

I guess the important part is that I finished. Even if I felt defeated by the circumstances of the day and I'm most especially annoyed upset frustrated about my performance on the bike. Swimming in a wetsuit in a lake where you can't see further than 5 inches in front of your face is nothing like swimming in a pool. The run was what it was...we all have bad runs and mine just came during the first 2 miles of leg 3 in the bitch known as the Galena Triathlon...nothing much I can do about that one.

Yes...I feel defeated. But I had a total blast during the beating.

But until I've had the opportunity to think it all through and discuss it...I'll leave you with a little teaser of the 1800+ feet of "climbing" that occurred on the bike this morning.

Stay tuned, campers.

I'm sorry Galena didn't treat you nicely... BUT YOU FINISHED... heck, you STARTED, even that is better than last year!

I can't wait to read the full race report. :)

Great job for finishing even though it was super tough and sounds like you had lots of obstacles! Nice job lady. Can't wait to hear all about it!

I think it will get better the more you think about it. I mean, let's face it, even starting a triathlon is more than most of your peers will ever accomplish!

So congratulations on another finish, and I look forward to commiserating on the rest :-)

That's a lot of road. Well, I guess you'll hear a lot of this, but finishing is under-rated.

It was a hell of a day out there. By the way unofficially the water was 46 at the farthest point out and I drank the other half of the lake.

Congrats on your tri! I thought about attempting one but after four private swimming lessons, I realized it was just not meant to be... so I'm in awe of all you triathletes!

Hang in there RJ, I give you a ton of credit for jumping an a 59 deg lake, that alone deserves big time props. GI issues can ruin any race. It can only get better from here right? Keep on working!!

You need to pat yourself on the back for getting your butt out there in the first place. Give yourself credit for that and sticking with the tough day and finishing. It'll build character and make your HIM a breeze!
