It could only happen to Barb...

Leave it to Barb to win a wetsuit the exact same day she loses her rear wheel and cassette on her bike.

True story.

Yesterday started off great, as I was proclaimed the winner of Beginner Triathlete's monthly wetsuit raffle (where I won the full sleeve one, and this gal won the sleeveless). So yay for us. Day goes on, it's a relatively fabulous day. I get to leave work right on time. And then somewhere in the 5 miles between our condo and our bike class...my rear wheel fell off. I am abso-effing-lutely dumbfounded. Apparently the skewer wasn't in tight enough...or I fell victim to Chicago's evil bike wheel bandit (which is the story I'm stickin' to).

Regardless...you don't want to know that the damage was. I like to rationalize all this with the fact I now don't have to buy a $250 wetsuit. It's a good thing that the cost was offset by this (slightly).

At least I'll soon have my bike back...with a brand new wheel set...and cassette...and tire...and tube. And at least it's an upgrade compared to what I was riding on before. I just need to find a new little magnetic sensor thingie for speed on my Cateye.

Worse things could happen, right?
