Hurt.

Lately, my half ironman training has been making me feel like this...

Hopefully I'll soon find my place back in the solid training mindset considering the race is in 2 months from this weekend. Additionally, Galena is one month. WHERE THE HELL HAS THE TIME GONE? Seriously people. This is absurd.

We were able to drive the Kansas Half Ironman course while we were in Lawrence yesterday. Pardon me while I pick my jaw up from off the floor. Most of the hills are irritating rollers...but good lord...there are a few behemoths in the mix. I'm going to have to find a way to attach myself to the back of one of these two ladies' bikes and just enjoy the ride up. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THIS POST BECAUSE AJ HAS THIS INCREDIBLE WAY OF SENDING ME INTO PANIC MODE EVEN AFTER I'VE FOUND MY 'HILL ZEN.' Thanks. Thanks a lot. You can't see it...but I'm giving you the finger with the most endearing smile...you're really freaking me out, kitten. ;)

Anyhoo...I took these photos to prove to the world that Kansas is not flat at all. *gulp*

But as you can tell...it's been a crazy few weeks over here in the land of Jayhawk. We beat Roy. We won the National championship (much to Bob's dismay). We witnessed the championship parade first hand. We've traveled to St. Louis and Kansas (twice)...and finally, we're going to have our first weekend in a month where we get to stay home. Let's just say...I'm beyond thrilled.

And exhausted.

And somehow...I need to muster up the energy for 2h15m in the saddle tonight. So with that...you campers have a beautiful day...and send some spring weather up to Chicago!!

Peace out, yo.

Did you see that womans foot strike at the end of that video, I want that. Kansas is for sure not flat but just remember where there are ups, there are downs. From what I understand keep in a easy gear and spin spin spin up those hills at a good cadence. That will save your legs for the run.
And I was rooting for Kansas, once my Badgers were ousted anyway.

As always, thanks Bob. You rule. ;) We're hoping to hit up some hills in the next few weeks. *almost* warm enough.

WTF?! I thought they were kidding about the hills. Apparently not. I think I'm almost better off not knowing before hand haha. I hope you had a great weekend in Lawrence...I know I did! Got my champ shirt, and I'm drinking from my champ coffee mug :) Also...I'll pull you up those hills if you push me on the run..mmk?

that song is so haunting. man i love it. brilliant stuff from a legend.

spin spin spin. when the legs are burning and pain is coming you need to spin it out. easy gear with high cadence.

feel better.

You show those hills who is boss! And if you can get your hands on some real spring weather, send some out to Western Washington, too - I'm looking out the window and seeing SNOW (not much, but ANY at this point in the year is TOO much!).
