Chillaxation.
If last week was the week of frustration and procrastination...then this week is the week of chillaxation. I'll be chill...relaxed...and actually GET the workouts done this time since my time in the pool has been...hmm...nonexistent perhaps? So chillaxation is the word...finding my inner zen with triathlon training...being at peace with each workout...
...oooohhhhhmmmmmmmmmm....
Here's a look at how last week went down...
Monday - 75 minutes easy on the bike trainer.
Tuesday - Run Intervals...until I almost vomited...*almost* 4x800 (hr upper 4) w/ 400 recovery. Plus warm up and cool down. And naturally, it wouldn't go off without a hitch of some kind...add charlie horse pains in my right calf on top of it all.
Wednesday - Perfected the fine art of hitting snooze and therefore missing my morning swim. My punishment? A kick in the ass climbing session with Lara in the evening. Standing climbs are the devil...bit fast spin jumps and big ring jumps are badass (I clocked 61.7mph).
Thusday - Mentally and physically drained. Decide to postpone swim workout until the morning. So instead I cross-trained my well-being and watched Juno with Mike on the couch.
Friday - We actually wake up at 6...and then after 10 minutes of serious deliberation...go back to bed.
Saturday - 3.8 mile run at a 10:23 pace
Sunday - Absolutely heinous bike ride for 90 minutes where I didn't find my groove until 20 minutes were left...one of those days where I couldn't keep my cadence above 85 if my life depended on it.
And this week...here's what we've got on tap:
Today - 3500 in the pool with 5x500 as the main set. I think Coach Mo is off his rocker. If you don't hear from me again, it's safe to assume I drowned.
Tuesday - Interval running on the track until I puke.
Wednesday - Bike Hill Session with Lara; Yoga
Thursday - Sweet, sweet rest...and my last Thursday of rest for a while.
Friday- 2550 yards in the pool
Saturday - 9 Mile Run
Sunday - 2 Hours on the Bike (this will hopefully be my first outdoor ride, too!)
I think it's realistic that I'll hit each of this week's prescribed training elements.
In other news...
...as a result of last week's major panic attack over the hills of the Kansas Iron-Cross, Mike and I decided to invest in one of the Enduracamps to prep ourselves for the race. Namely...we'll get to work with some outstanding athletes who will take us through hell and back in preparation for the race. Secretly, I just want to know first hand what I'm up against. I hate surprises.
...my wet suit is on its way to Chicago. Here's to hoping there are no more traumatic experiences.
...next week my running intervals class revs up. I may very well have one of those Saved by the Bell "Jessie Spano Moments" where I burst into a chorus of I'm so excited...I'm so...so...scared! .............minus the caffeine pills.
...congrats to everyone who ran the big one today. I've been tracking you all online and I'm massively impressed.
...Ironman Kansas 70.3 is 8 weeks and counting. ...oh shit!

oh girl...you will ROCK this week in training. I feel it. Meanwhile, it was 80 degrees this morning during my 1:45 run...KILL ME. It was terrible. Stupid summer...already. I'm getting into Lawrence either Friday evening or Saturday early afternoon...depending on my work schedule. since i'll only be working at my new job for a few weeks...i don't want to piss off my new boss! I'll for sure let you know. Also, I'm NOT looking forward to any hills in KS.
Good luck this week!
Good luck with your week, you seem like your were getting back on track last week. Your doing great!
Have fun chillaxin!
Did you really run the PS 1/2?? I DID TOO!! How funny is that?!? Also noticed you are in Chicago, is that right? I'm debating between the Chicago, KC or trying to get in the NY marathon for the fall! Leaning towards Chicago, though. CHEERS AND ROCK CHALK!!!!
Oh I was meaning to tell you to trademark that word, Chillaxation, seriously. :)
Best of luck with training.
