Sayonara Suckers!
I came on and started blogging about my general exhausted state and how I've worked more than the 24 hours that are in the day...but really. Who cares? We're all tired in our own right and frankly, I'm too tired of being too tired...therefore I'm too tired to even talk about tiredness.
Yesterday we tried to swim. Pool was closed. And then I tried to find my mojo to at least get a run on the treadmill in. And my motivation was closed. Such is life I guess. At least tonight's cycling class went really well...however I'm SO.OVER.SINGLE.LEG.DRILLS. Holy crap. I cannot keep it smooth to save my life. And it does a number on my right hip flexor Muy frustrating. And me and the aero position are having issues. I know it'll click one day...hopefully that day comes sooner rather than later.
So. All this snow and sleet bull crap that Chicago keeps getting slammed with? Yeah. I'm really blowing this joint and heading out west. I am definitely ready for a little bit of relaxation in Palm Springs. My mom keeps calling me and letting me know how beautiful the weather is out there (like she needed to rub it in as inches 10, 11 and 12 of the week came tumbling down). Only a few more hours in this suckalicious winter...and then I'll be sporting my shorts and flip flops...
This Sunday is the Palm Springs half marathon. The original Berry Women endeavor has slightly changed. Previously, we were all doing the half together. But with doctors running tests and all sorts of other medical hullabalooey, it was deemed that I am pretty much the only one of us who could physically handle the challenge...or actually prepared to go such a distance (I have no doubt that they could do it regardless of the circumstances, but I don't want to push the envelope). So. I'm still doing 13.1...however, I get a the opportunity to spend some quality time with each of the other Berry Women as they're doing the half marathon relay. And then the final tenth of a mile, we'll cross together.
This plan pretty much ensures a DLF for me...but I'm really quite okay with that. It'll be fun. And I'll get to hang out with my family that lives way far away from me. So all is well in the world.
It really is a family affair. My dad is running it (it's his first official half!) and Mike will be bookin' it out there, too. My brother in law and niece will be cheering it up on the sidelines. The only contingency missing is my brother and his family, but we'll get to see them at the St. Louis half in April.
And now a note for anyone out there who enjoys spoiling their youngest, cutest, most favoritest daughter...
I need to get some new running shoes. Soon. With each step it is becoming painstakingly more obvious that I have worn these suckers out. My knees hurt. They're starting to fall apart (the shoes, not the knees). And I no longer get that fun little umph whenever I put them on. I'm long overdue. These babies have 1 marathon, 1 ultramarathon, 2 half marathons (3 after this weekend) and a handful of shorter road races and all the training that goes with 'em packed into their lil' soles. Or whatever is left of them. So...if you just so happen to go into...a running store...oh, like Running Wild...during a packet pick up for a certain half marathon that may or may not be on Sunday...please...feel free to go ahead and indulge...you'll be saving your daughter's sole...
...haha! Sole!! GET IT!?
Okay. Nothing like seeing a twenty-something dropping not-so-subtle hints for her parents.
So this is where I say Sayonara. And put myself to bed. Because I am getting up in...uh...5 hours to go cram 10 hours worth of work into 6...should be fun...
Peace out, yo.

Good luck and please bring back the nice weather would you.
Can I be you...just for a little while? :) Have fun basking in the warmth...and get yourself some new shoes, ya hear?
Have fun in Palm Springs! My brief stint in Tampa was a nice break from the winter wonderland we've had this year although I think you have had it much worse in Chi town lately.
Enjoy Palm Springs. It's good to leave the snow behind you--I was so glad when my vacation in the snowy high country of Colorado ended and I returned to DC where they just have ice storms (uh, well maybe not).
Enjoy!!
nice. hope you're having fun. i just got back from my own trip out west...
