Sometimes, bad things happen to good people...

Last night...evil prevailed.

It was a sad evening in Jayhawk Nation...but one to be celebrated as well.

No, we weren't celebrating the loss, so to speak...

We celebrated the most amazing and unexpected season in football...going from ZERO pre-season votes to clawing our way to the number two slot. That's pretty remarkable.

We celebrated being number one in our minds, even if it was only for a few hours after the LSU loss...

We celebrated the fact that those in Larry-ville have class and bleed crimson and blue...unlike the heathens from Missouri who cheered at the mention of Quantrill's raid where he slaughtered and killed and raped countless individuals who stood for all things good and pure in the dead of night.

We celebrated our commercial being BEYOND superior to theirs...c'mon guys, a 'degree with teeth?!?' are you friggin' kidding me...what a joke? Like THAT shit was supposed to make anyone want to go to Mizzou...ya'll are friggin' idiots for paying valuable marketing dollars to develop that shit. Or did you allow a high school to concept and execute that piece of crap you call a commercial spot. I pity your journalism school...in fact, I'm actually embarrassed FOR you (which is something I never thought possible). I can't find it on YouTube...yet. But when I do, I'll post it here for all to join in the laughter...it was seriously pathetic.

We celebrated being 11-1...because THAT is something worth celebrating.

The thing is...this whole "good football team" stuff is rather new to me. Football used to be a time of getting drunk and going to the stadium to scream a little, but mostly socialize. And now...NOW...I just...dunno what to do. I mean...I'm paying attention to the game...and we're not even in the throws basketball season. *gasp*

It felt weird screaming at the TV last night. God love her, Mouse actually had to explain a few things to me along the way. I guess it comes with the territory though.

But the funny thing is...and Joel said it best...it's not that I don't like our football team, 'cause I do. I just hate the Mizzou football team so much more than I like our own. And so...

Without hesitation...

I say...

GO OKLAHOMA.

Rip the fucking tail of that Tiger, for all of us who have our hearts in Lawrence.

As my husband always says when someone else's football - college or pro - team loses -- at least you're not a Detroit Lions fan. :)

"evil prevailed"? Ouch. That hurts. Personally, I think it was more that Chase Daniel and a superior defense delivered a good thumping. Condolences on Saturday's Border Battle, but congrats on a helluva season. Go Tigers.

Sorry for the Jayhawks demise, I was feeling it for you guys and LMRP. Be proud though you still have the largest coach in the nation.

On the way home from Arrowhead the KU football team was briefly lost due to highway detours and traffic congestion...

...when Coach Mangino asked the bus driver to pull over for directions, they happened to be at a McDonald's restaurant. Coach walked in and asked how to get down to 435, to which a helpful Missouri fan replied, "I think you'd better try a salad Coach."

Ha ha ha. My slack-jawed Mizzou-loving uncle told me that one. Guess it takes a "degree with teeth" to appreciate it fully.

If you ever find that MU promo on youtube please do post it. I've tried google and can't find it online anywhere...that was REALLY a joke...how embarrassing for MU students to see themselves represented that way.

On the other hand, they did play a great first half...and KU couldn't get loose, esp. on offense. Just a couple breaks here and there it would have been a different story...but KU got beat plain and simple. For the sake of the Big 12 and our chance to grab a championship next season I hope MU wins it all an we get another shot at them next year.

As a dear Buffs fan, I can not bring myself to root for OK or Mizzou. It would be too painful to do. So sorry about the Jayhawks.
