Do you know what time it is?
...it's November 1st.
And that can only mean one thing...
...IT'S CHRISTMASTIME!!!!!!!!
I know, I know, I know...it's only November...
But...
To me...that is the official start of the Christmas season. The most fabulous time of the year! I've already got Accuholiday Radio in full swing at my desk. And before you go talking about turkey day, I've always said that Halloween and Thanksgiving are just obstacles on the road to the most super fabulous holiday ever!!
Last night I actually wrapped some Christmas gifts. On Halloween Night. While watching the Ghosthunters live from the Waverly Sanitorium. I am officially done shopping for Mike with the exception of stocking stuffers. I rule.
And tonight after work...we're going to price some prelit trees. I'm hoping that we can swing it because our current Christmas tree has to be assembled branch by branch...and then you sting the lights...and then the garland...and really it turns into a 10 hour debacle...because the past few years strands of lights that previously light up mysteriously don't once they're on the tree...so then you have to undo the lights...redo them...and so on. Last year Mike had to make a store run to pick up another 7 or 8 strands of lights. It was ridiculous. While I'm all Queen of Jing-A-Ling...I am also big on convenience. So if I can take eliminate half the drama of getting the tree up (i.e. prelit and not having to deal with individual branches) then I am a big proponent of the prelit suckers.
So we leave for NY in a few days. I have to admit I'm a teensie bit jealous that he gets to run the marathon and I don't. But I am really excited to be super-spectator. Shore Turtle and I are hoping to hook up and be super-spectators together. Although I question his ability to handle my overzealous cowbell. :) My right foot is still being problematic with the blistering (I literally don't have skin between two of my toes...awesome) and my knees are a bit sore from Saturday's race...but I'm hopeful that it won't slow me down in the Big Apple. I've mapped out a few locations to cheer from and hopefully won't miss anyone in the mobs of runners...
Best of luck to Mike, Dawn, Eddie and everyone out there racing this weekend!

Queen of the Jing-a-Ling! You are too funny! (I put the pug's jingle bell collar on last night before bed - bring on the season... we're ready!).
I am so jealous of your being done with some of your Christmas shopping. I have yet to get started. This is my jealous face - :(
Have fun in New York! You are one awesome cheerleader!!
Do you wanna come and do my x-mas shopping? I haven't done one lick of it and probably won't until after Thanksgiving.
I'm just glad I wasn't the only person watching that last night :) Have fun in NY!
No-flippin' way! I dno't even think about Christmas presents until week of. I can't believe you are done. That rocks.
Merry Christmas! Have fun in ny! And go mike go
We were going to watch ghosthunters but went for drinks instead...
and congrats on your race!
I am not ready. I am not ready. It's too damn early to think or comprehend Christmas shopping. Ugh!
Have fun in NY.
I wish I was running NYC. New York at Christmas time is so beautiful. I've been there twice during the holidays and it's beautiful. The only bummer is you are going to be there a couple weeks to early to get the full Christmas effect.
Jayhawk....you know I AM THE QUEEN OF THE JING-A-LING!!! But, I have taught you well....you are truly your mother's daughter!! I have 3 small trees up (my grandchildrens trees) and if we weren't going to St. Louis today the big one would be going up this weekend.....have a great time in NY but BE CAREFUL...sound like a mother don't I....love to you both ....mom
wrapping xmas gifts on halloween. you are crazy!!!!!!!!!!
for me, the holiday season does not officially start until i drink my first grande non fat latte out of fabulous red cup. later.
HALLOWEEN IS NO OBSTACLE!!! It's the #1 holiday of the year in our house and Christmas is a #2.
Have a great time in NYC!!! I plan to start my holiday shopping tonight, and as someone who works in tracking my company's retail sales I am very thankful for the people like you who are already buying tons of our Christmas stuff!!!
Our tree is going up today or tomorrow and the house will be totally decked out by the time I go to bed tomorrow night! I'm so excited!!! Oh, and I'm listening to Christmas music as I type this. The apples (or should I say pine cones?) don't fall far from the Christmas tree, do they!?!
Check Target for the trees - I got a nice 6' pre-lit number there for under $100. Big fan.
