We're ok.
Just a brief mini update. Mike and I are both okay. I was swept at mile 16...went through the debacle of the alternate route and then went to run my mentees and Mike in.
We'll check back with the full report later.
It was a doozy.
The best part? I was yak-free.

Glad to see you guys are okay.
Oh WOW, Barb. It was a very shitty day for a marathon. I will definitely buy you a drink tonight at the RBF gathering. You can count on that.
I'm glad to hear you're okay. I can't even begin to imagine running a marathon in today's weather. I heard they ran out of water, too. Ugh.
The good news is there's a 50K waiting for you around the corner!
Wish I could say I was yak-free! What a bad fuckin' race.
FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK
Nice first marathon I had.
HA!
See yall at the beer for a drink
omg. that totally sucks.
but glad ya'll are ok...
Geez! I just read the story on Yahoo! It sounded like there was some talk of shortening the 'thon it was so hot. I know the fire brigade was out spraying water on everyone. Good move.
Ah well. You got through it. I miss those days. I did some minor (5K/8K) Southern Cal races.
Very glad to hear you and Mike are OK -- and also glad that your indomitable spirit remains intact. It's awesome how quickly you can find something positive in such a doozy of a day.
So glad you are okay.
Glad you guys are ok!!
Oh, you're not kidding it was a doozy.
It was surreal. It's the closest thing I've experienced to being in a near-riot for the complete lack of fucking water. (Please excuse the French).
glad to see you guys made it through okay.
i was thinking about you and mike. i am glad you are ok. it was crazy out there. what doozy for my 1st.
Glad you are ok and yack free. I need details on this debacle.
Nice meeting you & Mike last night at Brad Garrett's; that certainly was a nicer Chicago place than the Chicago's mean streets during the broiling morning! A 26 mile FUN RUN--I don't think so! But Chicago was fun (took the boat ride river tour, went up in the Sears Tower, had deep dish pizza etc.) and what an exciting finish for the elites--both men and women. Sunday was a morning the likes of which are not likely to be repeated.
Running yak-free in and of itself is an amazing accomplishment. I felt like I was going to barf the entire middle-third of the race.
Seriously, congratulations on a tough effort.
I personally think you were gyped and they shouldn't have closed the race when they did. I hope you are out there again next year.
I'll be looking for you!
It was awesome to meet up with yall for a couple drinks!! It sure if nice to know you are all real people... I love your mom too! Any bourbon drinker has a special place in my heart :)
I'm so glad you guys survived! I called it a day at Jackson & Franklin...not too far before they turned everyone around anyway! Great job on holding strong!!
This is absolutely ridiculous - the more I hear, the more I can't believe what a cluster Sunday turned into.
Your story is a great one, though. You pushed yourself as hard as you could and helped your hubby finish. I'm glad you two got something good out of the day.
Hey I was right you did get two medals, did you see they are going for close to $100.00 on E-bay. Get on that girl, you can pay for next years registration!
