It's the day before the marathon.
First things first. Phog the dog is doing gloriously. He bounced back after the BodyGlide incident and hopefully learned his lesson (yeah, right).
On another note. My husband lied. The pumpkins show was awesome. I scored a backstage pass and met Jeff and Jimmy after the show, had access to get inside early and help a friend who was taping, and even got a seat upgrade in the process. Concert was great. I've got some video that I took with my camera. I'll have to upload a song or two for ya.
Shifting focus to the matter at hand right now...
Why the hell is it so effing hot? Seriously people. This isn't going to be a good race. I'm throwing all time goals out the window and I'm just running to finish...and not die in the process. I've got a time in the back of my mind and if I make it...brilliant. If not, then whatever. I'll get my revenge at the 50k on the 27th when it'll be so much cooler and more comfortable.
The expo was wonderful, as always. We ran into Mike while we were there. Loaded up on lots of freebies and may or may not have greatly enjoyed the generosity of my folks (thanks, you guys!!). I think my mom may now be motivated to do a 5k in her new shoes that she bought in the New Balance store yesterday as well.
Yesterday evening we met up with Running Cuckoo to buy her extra tickets to the marathon documentary, Spirit of the Marathon. It was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend everyone see it when it is officially released. And what a small world...I actually KNOW Cuckoo from wedding planning a few year's back. We also ran into Lisa while there and get to sit with everyone's favorite ridiculously fast blogger. Good times, campers, good times.
So how am I feeling right now? The good news is, I'm not feeling super nervous like I was this time last year. Hopefully it's a good sign that we're going to be yak-free tomorrow. The only thing that's weighing on my mind is the heat. And since there's nothing I can do about it, I'm just trying to hydrate my ass off (hooray for nuun and gatorade), stay off my feet and not be annoyed at the fact it's going to be 80-something degrees by the time I finish.
Tonight is the TNT pasta party so I'll be able to get that extra last little dose of motivation. And then hopefully hit the hay early. So now, I'm going to join my hubby on the couch for the fine sport of couch riding. KU is taking on KSU on the gridiron in less than an hour, for what will hopefully be a victorious game for my jayhawks (a girl can dream, right?). Have a good day, kids!

Oh cool, I'm the first to comment...
Good luck tomorrow and stay cool (if that is possible).
