Got Blisters?

Any suggestions on patching these bad boys up before tomorrow? Not only did the marathon blisters pop...but they peeled, oozed, itched, scaled and tore. I feel like a freakin' snake.

Totally awesome. Hopefully my feetsies hold up tomorrow. I'm thinking blister bandaids, tape, maybe some super glue. I dunno. I haven't been able to find mole skin and nu skin isn't strong enough. What do you campers recommend?

And I was doing great on the nerve front. Until this semi-complicated, kinda nerve-wrecking e-mail came through from the RD. I now have no doubt in my mind that I'm going to miss the 50k turn around spot.

....cause apparently that's how I roll.

Happy Friday, everyone!

I had similar issues on both bunions -- huge blisters and needed to continue to run. The blister bandaids are okay if you can find them big enough.

I would strongly encourage a moleskin hunting trip, though. Any drug store that carries Dr Scholls or similar foot products should have it. I have used the ones called bunion pads, but have also used the sheets. Do you have HyVee Drugstores? Walgreens? You should be able to find.

Also, if there is a lot of redness or tenderness, you can try a soak in epsom salt water.

they have a big version of blister bandaids and they are awesome. maybe just give some extras to mike so if they get loose during the race you could do a quick change.

Ouch!!!! I had blisters on the bottoms of my feet after Chicago, and as painful as they were at the time I don't think they were as bad as yours!! After the race I went to a Walgreens in the Old Town neighborhood and I didn't really find anything big enough for my blisters... I hope you have better luck.

Have a great race!!!

I am sure you have tried this but go get vaseline and rub them all over your feet and in between your toes. I ran Chicago and had no problems, no problems during training either. Just an idea.

Just so's ya know - I found some sheets of moleskin (a 3 pack of the 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" size) and am bringing them with me. I probably won't need them (at least not beforehand), so I thought I would donate them to the cause.

If you're donating Moleskin, I'm taking it, buddy.

Find me before the race? :)

You know, when I'm half asleep and my vision is kinda blurry, that photo looks like something other than feet.

hope you had a great day. I was with you in spirit and did a little ultra of my own but on trails. The Lakefront just seems so hard core to me! Hope you were able to wrap up those blisters.
