Declaration of Intent.
Saturday, October 27th - 8:30am - Lakefront 50/50
Naturally, it'd be for the 50k. And I completely reserve the right to withdraw the aforementioned declaration pending injury or recovery issues after the Chicago Marathon and the Kansas City Half Marathon. Registration will not occur until after the 26.2...but come on...really...what's another 5 miles when you can already go 26.2?
An ultra is something that I've been wanting to do, just wasn't sure about timing and all that jazz. Plus it's a really low key event (all of 250 participants between the 50k and 50 mile portions), so there's no pressure. I'll just go out and see how I fare. It's an 8 hour cutoff for the 50k, which is about a 15:30 pace. Fine.by.me.
So I kinda figure...why not?
I think it'll be a lot of fun...so let's get ready to enjoy the ride...

You are nutz! I love you!
Barb, I have to agree with Mike on this one. Sorry! I did not want to ANYTHING after my last marathon - much less an ultramarathon.
well....i could be game...but....we'll be in germany the week before...and the Cubs should be in the world series and playing that day. I'll think about it.
Love it!! I wish I lived closer, so I could do it with you!!
It was nice bumping into you on the running path the other day. You've got good running form and I'm sure you'll do great at the 50K.
Good luck!
What's an extra 5 miles? Two weeks ago you didn't even want to run the 26.2!
You are crazy.
You know what? Those are my thoughts exactly!! I just want to say I did an ultra... of course I would then want to do a 50 miler, then a 100K... I get addicted.
Go for it!
Better you than me - I'll come cheer for you though.
Scooter and I are ready for a visit anytime - work has just been insane the last two months but things are beginning to quiet down a little. see you soon.
I admire your craziness! I would totally come out to cheer you on too, but I'm flying home from Vegas that morning, so I'll just have to cheer from the airplane.
are you drinking????? :)
Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog. I did two 50ks last year - and you are right, it is only five more miles...but oh, those are five long ones! I'm sure you can do it - a little rest between the two and you'll knock it right out. Good luck!
Then, afterwards, you can come join me in So.CA for the Twin Peaks 50K -- that'll be my first ultra. It's in February & I have not idea what I'm in for (except a little break from Nor.CA)
You're such a superstar! You're totally going to kick ARSE!
