Welcome to Running Jayhawk's Blog!

There's a new RBFer in town...

...and her name is Lauren. And she rocks. Hardcore.

Remember when you first started running? How excited and eager you were to get out there...but some days you really just wanted someone to motivate you to go further...faster...harder? Yeaaaaaah...that's your cue to go over there and give her some love as she trains for the Shamrock Shuffle, and ultimately the Chicago Marathon. She's going to rock that shit. :)

So what are you waiting for? Mosey on over to her blog and show her some love.

In running news...
Tonight, in the chilly Chicago air, Mike and I hit the running path and actually ran *gasp* together. I know, I know...there's a first time for everything people. I haven't seen the lake that calm and peaceful in a really long time. The lights radiating off of the water was truly beautiful. The forecast was predicting a rain snow mix earlier this evening, but luckily mother nature held out for us. It felt really good and we both got comfortable fairly quickly.

I thought the schedule called for an easy 2...and we ended up running 2.71. So in my mind we were all super, rockstar, overachiever runners. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand as luck has it, the schedule actually called for an easy 3. So it looks like we're just slackers. But whatever.

We ran from Oak Street Beach on the lakeside path until we hit that little bathroom shed a little bit before Fullerton. The outgoing 1.35 we were at an 11:11 pace and the return was at a 12:00 pace...only because I had to stop and stretch at the North Avenue bridge because my hip flexor was extremely tight.

So yeah. That's about it. Not too much going on in the land of the 'hawk. Christmas decorations came down this weekend...and our place looks bare. Work has been really busy. Not stressful busy. Just busy, busy. Which at least makes the days go by quickly. We bring the babies home on Saturday. And Phog is still mad that we've put him on a diet. At least he's eating when he's served now.

But now I must retreat back to college football. I really don't care who wins...but once this game is over, college hoops are here in FULL FORCE. And well...Kansas Basketball is where it's at. Bring it on, Big 12...bring it on.

Hope you all had a good Monday...

Congrats on the new bike!  Best of luck to you and hubby at your first tri.  Hopefully I can be there to cheer you on and pour gatorade on your head when you finish.

By the way, it's cool that you and OOSG ran together.  Judging for your pace, it looks like a certain Jayhawk is starting to put the speed on!  Way to go!
