No More Junk
So I'm on a kick right now to sorta sift through the "junk" in my life right now. Within the past 2 weeks, I've managed to clean out my closet and donate 2 bags of clothes to Salvation Army, do a major overhaul of make up and bathroom schtuff I really don't use (I was shocked how much I had in there), organize the bedroom and my pile of scrapbooking crap that seemed to take over the corner, and I even threw away a ton of undies that I haven't worn in uh...close to a decade (yeah...ew...gross...i know!!!!)...I cannot believe I just admitted that. Eek! I must be getting old or something...
But in essence...I'm trying to get super organized...and I've never been one with strong organization abilities. But I'm making progress...and attempting to do so...
...see?
Now normally all of my running clothes are stuffed into the bottom shelf in my closet. But now...now they're divided and folded (by pants/shorts/ls tech/ss tech, no less!) and you can easily figure out where the hell that one tech shirt from that one race is hiding. Oh yeah...and my new clip shoes have their very own space on that third shelf. Now...I know this doesn't compare to Runner Susan's closet makeover...but this is MAJOR progress for me as a clutter bug. Maybe this weekend I'll tackle my dresser...
...or not...
We must be growing up or something because today, we met with....dun dun dun...a financial planner. What a big, scary, adult-ish thing to do. BUT...it had to be done. Because well...in 2007 we're in control of our finances...not the other way around.
I must say...it went surprisingly well. Learned a lot. Have some homework and research to do. Tons more questions to ask.
It was good.
Very good.
So yes...no running tonight since it's American Idol-palooza in our sweet little condo. Comfy jammie-like clothes...and junk food. Which I guess means I don't have to grow up entirely...at least not right now...

Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is a choice. Choose not to.
And way to get organized! Want to come here next? ;o)
nothing gives me warm fuzzies more than an organized closet. seriously. i sometimes dream of being locked in the container store. so congrats, your closet looks HOT!
and how did you find a financial planner. i've been contemplating meeting with one.
Junk food + American Idol ???!!!
Better drink plenty of water to flush THAT out of your system.
I do not mind getting old. I just do not like some of the grown-up things I must do at times. Nice organization!
Would you like to come to KS and organize my crap B? I could really, really use it? Please...
Oh, and you two really are grown-ups, aren't you? Scary.
I AM SO IMPRESSED AND HAVE A CLOSET JUST WAITING FOR YOU WHEN YOU COME HOME IN APRIL!!! DAD WILL BE SO HAPPY!!!!
Financial planning...now, there's a concept. Do you have to balance your checkbook?
I organized my shirts last week too! But I haven't even attempted to clear out anything. That process just seems so daunting!
How ironic that a post entitled 'No More Junk' ends by saying you'll be consuming junk food this evening.
I did my kitchen cabinets not too long ago...I've finally decided that if it hasn't been used since we got married...we don't need it. I took a crapload of stuff to the goodwill. Now if I could just address my closet...
There's no chance you want to do mine too, is there?
Barb--NICE CLOSET! Mine looks like hell compared to that.
Yay for putting your junk in a box!!
Being an adult is awesome!! There's nothing wrong with that!!! Kudos for setting up a financial plan, too.
I'll email you back tonight but you know you have a place to stay in Nashville, girl!!!!
My closet is so much worse! I am horrible at organizing. it's called plies for me! go you!
BTW, Jayhawks rule!
(I really want Phog to like me.)
That closet looks fab.
A financial advisor is a good thing...just remember he/she is working for YOU.
Jayhawks over K-State any day.
(I'll make it to Kansas some day, even if it's to connect at the Topeka airport in 2037)
