The first day of school...
*cough...ahem...cough* (clears throat and says in her best Legally Blonde Elle Woods voice)...
Today was like the first day of school...only funner!!!!!
After a fantabulous brunch with Mouse and 2 of her crazy chicas, Mike and I headed to our local YMCA to meet with the folks in the enrollment, er I mean membership dept and get a tour of the facilities. It was totally like the first day of school...
...you know, where you roam the halls trying to figure out where everything is...making sure your classmates aren't psychopaths and that the place is sanitary and all that jazz.
Well...the place checked out with us. And before we knew it, we plunged into lane 2 of the pool and off we went.
It was quite a pleasant surprise for me (especially since I had been dreading the swim since the thought of a triathlon)...I could go into all sorts of fun little details for ya...but to make a long story short....let's just say, I ruled the pool.
I tried to cover the 660-yard distance in the triathlon...but I didn't exactly keep track, but I'm pretty sure I came close, if not over that distance. I did a few timed laps, too. I'm sure it's not impressive to you folks who were dolphins in another life, but I'm damn proud of my 50-yard freestyle in 55 seconds.
I rock.
That is all. Carry on with your regularly scheduled blogging.
Now I'm off to go into panic mode about the bike portion of the triathlon...because clearly, the swim isn't going to be as traumatic as I once thought...
Party on, campers....
PS...want to know who is better in the water? Go check out the OOSG's forthcoming post and make your own educated decision...or...just envision me with a big fat grin on my face... :D

Hehe. It is about time you are faster than OOSG in something.

perhaps YOU were once a dolphin in your former life!!! :)
i'm SO glad we got to meet up this morning! thanks again for brunch, sweetie. you KNOW that i'm looking forward to returning the favor in march...

:) I am glad the pool wasn't as bad as you imagined. I had a feeling you were a fishy!
WOW! You are the speed demon in the pool. You RULE the pool!
Having gone to school near the ocean beaches of Kansas, it makes total sense that you would be an excellent swimmer!
As for OOSG, well.. you might want to get him a pair of spiderman floatation wings.
Awesome job on the swim
thanks for the words of advice. much appreciated!!
Way to go, little dolphin!! Channel your inner Lance for the bike!
I haven't swum a timed lap since I was in high school; in fact, I mostly just float int he pool these days -- I hardly ever actually SWIM!
