First Run with the Team...
Today was our first actual run with the team...the past two weekend's we've had a wedding and a race, and therefore, missed those group runs. It felt GREAT to be back. After all the announcements and what not, we all head out north on the path...I was doing great the first mile and a half...when I got to the 0-mile marker, I turned around and then my hip started kicking in again...giving me the same problem as it did during the Soldier Field 10...extremely tight to the point where it's painful (no fears, I'm icing it right now). The mile and a half back to our meeting point was a bit well...less than kind. I'd only let myself walk 10-20 yards at a time, so I'd interlace this with running. When I approached the meeting point for water, Coach Chris looked at my and asked why I was favoring my left side. He helped stretch me out and then suggested I only do 4 miles instead of the 5 we were scheduled to do. So around the hill and soccer fields I went...it wasn't too bad. The path was marked off for the WonderGirl 5k sponsored by Girls on the Run...so there was a bit of confusion with where folks were supposed to turn and what not (as a result, Mike and Taylor ended up doing 4 instead of 5 as well).
I finally got to meet a handful of my mentees! They're awesome and off to a great start fundraising. Plus the post-run breakfast at Zephers was realllllllllly yummy. We have to remember that place in the future. When we got home, Mike, Phog and I walked up to Starbucks and then the Newberry Library Park for some four-legged socializing. Met some of the cutest dogs, including one Boston Terrior French Bulldog Mix (who was so sweet and friendly!). Now it's an afternoon of riding the couch and icing our sore spots....
Tuesday: Bikram Yoga
Thursday: intended to run however, because of some events going on at work, I ended up working for 14 hours...and well...the run didn't happen.
Saturday: 4 miles and a 1 mile post-run walk with Phog the Wonder Dog...

I LOVE Zephers! I used to go there as a kid with my dad...i remember the ice cream being really tasty! Good job on the run.
Glad you got to run with the group. Where is the dog park at? We tried to take Scooter to the dog park on Orleans and he escaped so I won't let him go back.
Great job, girl! Keep icing that hip...and take care of YOU!
I hope the hip starts feeling better soon. Sounds like you are off to a great start with TNT. Our first group training is tomorrow. I'm anxious to get started and meet my mentees. Good luck with the season!
It feels so great that everyone is starting to train for their fall M's!!
I love Phog, he is so cute! We need more pics!! And there isn't a Boston T alive who isn't friendly! We had someone at the park today tell their kids (as they walked past us and pointed) that "all pit bulls aren't so friendly". WTH????? He's a BOSTON BABY!!!
