Details on the Great RBF Music Exchange...

I'm excited for all of the interest :) Woohoo!

Here's the skinny...
If you'd like to participate, you need to either A) Leave your E-mail Address in the Comments Section or B) Send an e-mail to me at BarbsMarathon AT gmail.com. Rather than post my mailing address here on my blog, I will get you e-mail it to you.

With the 4th of July Holiday coming up, the "CD Due Date" at July 8th...so try to get everything to me by that Saturday (this also allows for more folks to jump in on the fun). The following week, I'll match folks up and send the packages back to you. So assuming Mr. Postman complies, you'll have your new running tunes by the 15th-ish.

Someone had mentioned receiving a CD with a genre of music they didn't particularly care for. Here's how we're goint to ATTEMPT to avoid this...everyone will create a "Preference List" for me to use as a guide for what music you'd like to receive. This Preference List will consist of your three favorite genres and your favorite artist(s)--this is to avoid getting a CD of songs you already have. For example, if my favorite artist is U2, and Josh sends me a CD with a bunch of U2 songs, odds are I already have most of those songs on my playlist, so I wouldn't want to get that CD. Comprende?

My Preference List would look something like this...
Favorite Genres: 90's Alternative, Power Pop, and Piano Rock
Favorite Artists: Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, U2, Self, Ben Folds
So in theory the Prefence List will expand upon your favorite genres with new songs, but limit the likelihood of receiving tunes you already have.

So here's your checklist, fellow friend:
  • 1 CD full of your favorite running songs with respective Tracklist...if you want to contribute two different CDs, be my guest. Contibute 2, receive 2 back.
  • 1 Self Addressed Stamped Padded Envelope...you'll probably need approximately $1.50-$2.00 in stamps. You can also take it and get it weighed at the post office.
  • 1 Preference List featuring your 3 favorite genres and favorite artist(s).
  • Short Note (optional)
  • All to Barb no later than July 8th!!
You may also want to include a short note to the effect of...These fabulous tunes brought to you by "your name here"...just a courtesy to your blogging friend. How weird would it be to get a CD and you have no idea who it came from?!?

How you package all this up and get it to me is entirely up to you. If you want to bring it to my doorstep, go right ahead. If you want to box it up and send it my way, be my guest. I think the easiest way would be to stick everything inside of the padded envelope (unclosed, of course) and then put all of that inside another regular envelope.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll get back to you and post them here as well (odds are if you have a question, someone else has that same one, too).

Today's obligatory running note: nonexistant. My leg is just now finally starting to feel normal and so that means speed training tonight (weather pending).

And in other fun news...my brother and sister-in-law brought home the newest addition to their family on Monday--Sidney! I don't have any photos just yet, but I've been told she's slowly adjusting well to all three of her brothers and to her new family (adopted from Ethiopia). How exciting!! This auntie can't wait to spoil her rotten!

Um, OMG. I have to meet you sometime. My little sister (now 13)is adopted from Ethiopia as well! She was 4 when she joined our family. (I was 21) Wow. What a cool thing aside from running, knowing Dice and puking at marathons for me to have in common with you!

(Edit Sorry had to fix a typo and try to make it less confusing.)

Ok I promised a system and here is a thought. Not that your system does not rule Barb. But I wanted to throw this out there and see what you thought.

Your job as the organizer would be to get a list together off all the people and their addresses. Then you would need to mail a copy of this lest to each person.

The directions are that you make two copies of your CD and mail a copy to the first two people below you on the list. (If you are last on the list you mail it to 1&2)

When you get a CD from someone you send them one back. That's the system. So in the end you should have four CD's and have sent out four. Simple right?

Then if the chatter proves that Running Jayhawks mix rocks then I might decide to send you mine thus forcing you to send me yours. :)

Anyways I thouhgt it make a little less work for you. It is only a suggestion take it or leave it I will not be offended either way.

My e-mail is on my blog. :)

Look at you! I need to reread this because this blonde is fuzzy on what to do. I'll email you privately! God I am so dumb, sometimes! Wait...if we do what Bob-O-La suggests then would it be like a chain letter type thing?

Bob...I do like your idea. I did get a few emails from folks with the same concern as Audrey though. I'll see how we can work around it.

My other thought is someone might not necessarily want to have to send out four CDs...or they may not have the resources to...

Oooh Barb I love love love this idea! I just hope it's not too expensive to mail to/from Canada. Shouldn't be, by regular post, methinks.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and close to you RBFers out there :)

Alright, let me know the details!
