Meant to be a Mentor.

Well...it's official.

Yours truly is a mentor. I'll be fearlessly leading the way in the fundraising efforts of 12 Chicago Marathon hopefuls.

After tonight's meeting....I've got my work cut out for me! Lots of stuff to do and organize. I'll start receiving my mentees info by the end of the week! Eep! I'm really excited. I just hope I can pull 'em all through the fundraising process.

Any brilliant fundraising ideas floating out there?

On another note....I'd like to congratulate Liz for COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY ROCKING THE SOCKS OFF THE BOSTON MARATHON! You're amazing...I totally want your running mojo. And I'd like to welcome Tara to the running blog community. She's new to all this and is seeking some advice from seasoned marathon runners, so if you have a chance, pop on over to her blog and give her your two cents...and help save her from the evil cotton socks.

- Barbara

PS...Phog says he appreciates all the kind words and support. He's feeling much, much better now and is actually looking like a pug and not a sharpei. And Little Miss Runner Pants....his full name is "Sir Phog Allen Prince of Lawrence." How do you like 'em apples?

Congratulations! You are so going to kick some butt and be a wonderful guide. I'm still up in the air as to whether or not I'll be doing Chicago, but I'll let you know.

Congrats on your mentor status. Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm excited to move to the Chicago burbs in the coming 1.5 weeks. Looks like there are some excellent Chicago city runs, which I look forward to running. I'm in for the Marathon in Oct. This will be my 7th.

Try www.magfundraising.com. It's a free online magazine fundraiser that lets you set up a website for your group and invite supporters. It's completely free so it can't hurt to try!

Hi there! I am running the Chicago marathon as a mentor with TNT, also.

For a fundraising idea how about this...have your mentorees get their friends, family, co-workers, teammates, etc. to guess their finish time for the race. Charge a fee for each guess. The winner gets a predetermined amount. The rest goes to TNT.

Good Luck!
