5. When did you start running?
6. What's your post-race/post-run ritual?
7. What do you eat before you run?
8. What's your favorite running movie? (psst...I love Saint Ralph!)

10. What are your running shoes?
Just curious! :)
Do tell, do tell!!!
Apparently I forgot a number 5...but that is now fixed. Whoops!

It's not like I'm consuming an insane amount of calories or fat...no more than I was before, and I have a very difficult time believing that I gain 15 lbs of muscle. I wish!
First, watch the type of food you are eating, and how many calories you are 'burning' and 'eating' the weight might be just muscle, perhaps, your body retaining liquids, I'm not an expert but I'll look for more info...
6. What's your post-race/post-run ritual? I've never watched myself before race, but I remember I used to wash my hands and face a lot. After race, lol, I used to throw myself on the ground
7. What do you eat before you run?
I used to eat a chicken sandwich with apple juice before 3 hours before run and then an apple.(weird)

1. Run? What?
I'm an equal opprtunist. Any time is fine.
2. I usually run on roads.
3. I don't run to music unless I'm at the gym which is rare.
4. I lost about 9 pounds when I started running 5 years ago. Then I regained 6. I've stayed around there ever since. When I work out a lot I tend to weigh the most as well. (I eat a lot :) So yeah, I have no advice for you. Please pass on any you find :)
5. I don't really have a post-race ritual.
6. Usually peanut butter and a carb like a banana or waffle. If I'm running short in the morning I don't eat.
7. Chariots of Fire
8. to be healthy. to relieve angst. to maintain my weight. to compete. to motivate others. to kill time. to be outside.
9. whatever shoes fit my gimpy feet!
1. After work on weekdays (which is like 3:30) and early on weekends (at least I did when it was warmer).
2. I prefer outside (lakefront path, busse woods), but when it is super cold, I go on the treadmill or indoor track at the gym.
3. "How bad do you want it" by Tim McGraw
4. I haven't lost any weight since I started running either. So, sorry, no advice.
5. No 5?
6. Post-run: take a shower; Post-race: eat alot and then take a shower.
7. Peanut butter on wheat bread or a muffin.
8. Don't have one.
9. I started running because I didn't think I could do it and wanted to prove myself wrong.
10. Asics Gel Cumulus VII
1.I usually train with the running room, which means weekday evenings and early Sunday morning (I can't decide weather I love or hate those early runs). Myself, I'm definitely an afternoon person (this may change once summer comes around).
2.Along the canal in Ottawa. If I can get out of the city, I love running on dirt roads in the woods!
3.All these things that I've done - KILLERS
4.When I started, I lost a few pounds, but eventually gained them back and have added a few...I'm at a loss myself, sorry, no advice.
5.It's almost my 1 year anniversary!
6.Post run: Eating of course! I do occasionally stretch and/or shower. I also have a protein shake.
Post race: Eat, shower, then curl up on the couch and watch a good movie.
7.Oatmeal in the morning, anything I can get my hands on on weeknights (this includes protein bars, chocolate, bagels...)
8.I'm afraid I don't have one...does Forest Gump count?
9.Susan's (a co-student) non-stop talk about marathon training got me started. To keep myself motivated now, I just think about how I will feel once I finish my run (always a good feeling), and it keeps me getting out there.
10.Asics - Gel Cumulus VII
1) I'm a night runner, except for weekends. Then I run first thing in the morning b/c it's better race prep.
2)I run around the neighborhood and local parks
3)Smooth Criminal-Alient Ant Farm
4)I'd look at calories in vs out, and what you're eating. I had to increase my calories and my weight stayed constant even though I was running 45 miles a week.
5)I guess my rituals are checking my splits and a trip to the potty!!
6)Before a long weekend run I eat 1-2 packets of oatmeal with a banana cut up in it.
7)No fave running movies...
8) My motivation was to lose weight! I was 38 pounds heavier then and so out of shape. And it was cheaper and easier than joining a gym!
9) Mizuno Wave Inspire!
Anything I can do to help! OR actually feel like a runner!
1. What time of day do you run?
I alternate between mornings and evenings. Long runs usually done in the AM and PM runs are for normal mileage.
2. Where do you usually run?
Well since I live in NYC I run everywhere! Central Park, along the East River or up and down the Avenues! Especially during rush hour! (it adds to the excitement)
3. What is your favorite song to run to?
I run sans music/ipod/etc...Gives me time to think and an ooportunity to concentrate on my running.
4. When I was marathon training I actually gained 15 pounds. I am NOT happy about this. Any advice for dropping pounds while running? It's not like I'm consuming an insane amount of calories or fat...no more than I was before, and I have a very difficult time believing that I gained 15 lbs of muscle. I wish!
Lay off the beer! That is what is killing me :-)
5. When did you start running?
Started running about 3yrs ago. Haven't looked back since. I have now thrown triathlons into the mix! (I recommend one for everyone!)
6. What's your post-race/post-run ritual?
Straight to bar for carb loading.
7. What do you eat before you run?
I usually don't eat. Very bad habit to get into. This I do NOT recommend for anyone.
8. What's your favorite running movie? (psst...I love Saint Ralph!)
I guess Pre?
9. What's your motivation for running? (or when you first started running)
Started running because I kept getting creamed during boxing. Then I met some super cool folks who are now some very good friends. I run to hang out with them, for the palone time and for the idea that I am "exercising".
10. What are your running shoes?
Brooks something or other. Light and good support.
1) I typically run in the morning.
2) Almost all of my runs at at the local Y, where I have childcare as part of my membership. It's much easier to drop the munchkin off than push a jogging stroller.
3) I vary my songlist - I think I have about 450 songs in the MP3 player now. Most are quick-tempo, to help with pacing.
4) No clue. I have problems maintaining my weight when running - it tends to drop.
5) Back in HS, when I did track freshman year. Decided to run CC (rather than deal with the jerks on the soccer team) my soph year. Took a long hiatus (other than the odd road run) for about 10-12 years, and finally started running again at the beginning of last year.
6) Hrm. The closest I have to one is drinking Boost/Ensure/etc after a hard or long run, and then eating a carb-heavy meal soon afterwards. Showering comes in there somewhere as well.
7) Bananas, sometimes a bread product. I do a lot of runs on a pretty empty stomach, but that doesn't work well past 10-12 miles, though it doesn't seem to impede me for shorter runs.
8) Don't have one.
9) My motivation comes from my kneee. When I was a young'un, I got plowed by a car (compound-complex spiral fracture). One knee is rebuilt, and it's only through luck/grace/whatever that I still have my leg. If I don't run (or bike, or swim) on a regular basis, the knee gets really, really weak, and eventually it gives out. So, I really do have to keep my rear in gear and keep moving.
10) Asics Gel Foundation VI - again, due to the knee, I tend to overpronate. So, I need a shoe that really prevents it.
1. I prefer to run first thing in the morning but the weather has been too cold with the little ones so I've been running around noonish.
2. Generally I run around the neighborhood as it is flat and rather straight (easier with the double stroller).
3. I don't have a favorite just yet but have been playing around with some playlists... When I did the Pre last year, I had listened to 'Stacy's mom' in the car on the way over - I sang it in my head through the whole race. :)
4. no advice - I have the same issue.
5. I ran in high school but recently started up this past fall.
6. I don't have one yet.
7. Banana and something full of carbs (french toast, pancakes...)
8. Chariots of Fire
9. In high school it was to belong to a group. Now, it is to get fit and show my kids that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything.
10. Nike.
I love this post! Great idea!
Oops, I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake (been a bad blogger), but I still feel like answering your questions so here goes...
1. What time of day do you run?
I usually come back from morning class, eat lunch, and then run as soon as that's digested - about midafternoon. It works because I'm awake by then, but I haven't gotten all lazy yet.
2. Where do you usually run?
When it's cold, I stick to the track at U of T athletic centre, but if the weather's nice I consult gmaps pedometer and head out into the neighborhood, wherever that may be.
3. What is your favorite song to run to?
Half the time I run without music and just listen to whatever song gets stuck in my head. But if I do have the headphones on, I think my ultimate favourite is probably "Girl, you have no faith in medicine" by the White Stripes.
4. When I was marathon training I actually gained 15 pounds. I am NOT happy about this. Any advice for dropping pounds while running? It's not like I'm consuming an insane amount of calories or fat...no more than I was before, and I have a very difficult time believing that I gained 15 lbs of muscle. I wish!
I will kiss the feet of whoever can teach me to run without gaining weight. It's a losing battle, I tell ya.
5. When did you start running?
Originally in high school, when I joined the X country team in grade 12. Since then I've been pretty sporadic, and only picked up running seriously again about 1 1/2 years ago.
6. What's your post-race/post-run ritual?
I make myself do a good 15-20 min stretch, then I gorge on food (this might explain the weight issue...) and head for a shower. After that, I'll usually go brag to my boyfriend about going for a run. He's not really impressed, but he pretends to be.
7. What do you eat before you run?
Lunch. It has to be real food - I got over the Powerbars a while ago.
8. What's your favorite running movie? (psst...I love Saint Ralph!)
I don't think I've ever watched a running movie... how sad, that must change.
9. What's your motivation for running? (or when you first started running)
Mostly I run for good health, but I admit I also do it to look good (I figure they go together). My main motivator these days is my boyfriend (I know, ick, mush!) - he's a varsity rower and really dedicated to fitness, so mostly I'm just being competitive and trying to keep up!
10. What are your running shoes?
Nike Air Perseus, which they have now stopped making (version 2 just isn't the same) - this makes me cry inside!
1. 7 pm weekdays, various times on weekends.
2. From my running store, around my neighbourhood, and down by the river.
3. Don't carry music, but there's often sometune stuck in my head. It's different every time.
4. I'm no help. But pick Linae's brain over at A Peculiar Shade of Gray - she's having some success.
5. January 24, 2000
6. Drink a glass of milk. Check my e-mail.
7. Toast on the weekends, supper on weekdays.
8. Haven't watched any running movies.
9. It started out as some ME time when the kids were little, and to keep the chocolate pounds from growing too much. Now it's a source of accomplishment, and still a defense against chocolate pounds.
10. Saucony Grid Omnis. Just picked up a new pair this week. Brooks Trail Addiction for the trails.
