Ch Ch Changes...

In an evening of boredom, i finally cracked the code and figured out how to slightly change the appearance of this blog. Go me. We have a modified look, folks. You likey? I'm a fan of simplicity.
Being Presidents Day and all, I was one of the fortunate few who didn't have to go to work. So what did I do today? I ran.

Sorta.

I had intentions of running 4 miles. I headed back out to the TNT meet up point and headed north today (which was a bad idea because it's quite boring up that way). I ran the first mile at 11:21...SCHWEET! So I slow it down a pinch..and my right shin starts being obnoxious. So I do a bit of a wog...and get to mile 1.5. By the time 1.5 hit, I was in a good amount of pain. So I walked. And with the exception of a few minutes around 2.3-2.7, I walked everything else.

I stopped by the time I circled back to my car at mile 2.9. Hours later I'm still quite sore. I'm not sure I should be running two days in a row. I should switch it up from here on out.

In other news, last night Mike and I signed up for two races...the first-ever Race to Wrigley 5k out in Wrigleyville (woo! it's after opening weekend!!) and the Soldier Field 10-miler which ends on the 50 yard line. It's agreed that he'll probably beat me in a 5k or an 8k, but he can't hold a candle to me when it comes to the 10-miler. Now that I've got that in writing, I'm sure he'll go out of his way to make sure he crosses the finish line before I do.

oh, don't get me started on the agony of being beat by the men in our lives in races. the fear of it put me in a frenzy over my family turkey trot. it just seems so unfair when i devote myself to running and they don't... :) it's great you're both going though. i can't wait to hear about his first race.

I can totally relate... my boyfriend and I ran a 10k this summer - I trained my ass off for weeks, and he barely ran at all because he was recovering from a broken toe! But guess who creamed me by almost 20 minutes? Grrr... silly boys.

Hee Hee, my hubby may be able to keep up with me for a couple of miles but I know I would smoke him in anything longer then a 5K. He hates running anyways.

I love the new look! Fabulous! What font did you use?

My DH refuses to run but will bike along side me... I doubt he'd be able to run more than a mile or 2 (don't tell him I said so)... :)

Rock Chalk...love the new banner.

I'm so on board with the getting-beat-by-guys thing -- my fiance can sprint for like three miles, no problem, despite the fact that he hasn't run regularly in 10+ years. Damn you, biology!

My boyfriend may be able to keep up for a 10K, the long distances seperate the boys from the women!
