Back in the saddle again...

Tonight, for the first time since my marathon...I ran. Tonight, for the first time ever...I had a running buddy. Tonight, for the first time in a long time...I have that fantastic post-run feeling. Woohoo!!

And despite my near-death experience on the treadmill (I was watching the end of the Duke/UNC game and I was cheering for Duke since the Blue Devils are the lesser of the 2 evils--where I'm from you hate the UNC coach who shall not be named with a passion...but anyways, I was watching the game and I tooooootally lost my footing when JJ "passed" the ball into the UNC bench with 33 seconds left...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Are you trying to blow the lead JJ? I was so panicked, I completly lost my footing and nearly bit it on the belt...luckily, I caught myself on the heart rate monitor grips), it was great!!

So my husband...the non-runner...the "I'd rather have a beer or smoke in my hand than a waterbottle" guy...ran with me...and we had a blast! This was the first run of many, as we train for the Shamrock Shuffle. I'm still laughing at the fact that he signed up while drunk. What a funny guy! But he's determined to take the training seriously and even made me follow the stretching regimine in one of his rehab books...afterall, we're both "serious runners." Hahhaaa...although I will admit, he looks great in his UA garb. Super sexy. And all sweaty...yummy!

Rae was right! Running with your hubby is a good time :)

This run brings my monthly total to:
Month - 2 miles
Year to date: 42 (okay...42.2 from that lil' race called a marathon I did last month)

Go me. In addition to the 2 miles, we did some weight training focusing on the arms, too. I feel I should add that I walk an addition 2.5 miles each day in my commute to and from work, but I don't count that as training.

On deck for tomorrow...leg and arm work before going to Taylor & Jacob's for the Kansas basketball game. Go Jayhawks!!

ha! I wish my hubby would run with me, but he thinks its "stupid". He would also rather have a beer and would probably have to be drunk to sign up for a race! Although he will hike with me....Glad to see your running is getting better.

As much as I love to run with my guy, it pisses me off that he runs faster and farther, but only runs about twice a year!

As a fellow Jayhawk, and lifelong Duke hater, I always find the UNC-Duke games so perplexing. I can never decide who to cheer for. Thus, I just hope that somehow the ground opens up and swallows both teams.

Yah running husbands! I heard mine say that he would "like to start running everyday". Hasn't happened yet but I can't help but he excited.

The only potential problem, I have noticed that he is a bit of a spitty runner. I hope that is just him getting into shape.

Yeah for couples workouts!!

My TiVo found a program called "running" that airs Sat at 12 CST on FSN and it's going to play the PF Chang Arizona 'thon! Well, it will show the top ppl anyway but I thought you might want to know just in case you get that channel!

TGIF!

Whew - I've been reading your blog for days and finally got caught up. So now I get to say: wow, you are really amazing! You are a great storyteller, and your marathon experience was just fantastic. Very "rockstar".

So glad for you that your husband is running too! My boyfriend doesn't run with me much - he spends most of his time being a hardcore rower - but when we do he kicks my ass! It works best when we're lapping the track, then I can stick my tongue out at him every time he passes me :)
